Gilank – 29 October 2024

Gilank is a duo of Bradford-based experimental electro-acoustic musicians, Alice Gilmour and shi Blank.  They work with an array of loopers, pedals, synths, MIDI controllers, and acoustic instruments including violin, flute, and bass guitar.

They formed in 2024 having met at Bradford Sound Artists which meets monthly.  Sharing classical music upbringings followed by a rejection of that exclusive world, they have both explored many different genres of music throughout their lives.  With Gilank, they are enjoying experimenting with loops and effects pedals creating weird and strange noises, mixed with harmonic and harmonious sounds as well.

Their improvised performances start with one sound, or a shared thought in mind.  Then they respond to each other’s input in real-time, their interactions shaping the evolving composition.
