A first outing for this newly formed trio, including a welcome return to the Noise Upstairs by one of the founders of the night.
John Garner is a musician, educator, and PhD candidate based in Congleton. A tireless experimenter, well-versed in multiple traditions, John has forged a radically unique voice as a violinist, combining a quicksilver and innovative technique with a freewheeling improvisational aesthetic.
Adam Fairhall has forged an international reputation as a jazz pianist and keyboard improviser of exceptional versatility and striking individuality. Based near Manchester, England and highly active on that city’s burgeoning creative music scene, he is perhaps best known as the pianist in Nat Birchall’s Coltrane-inspired band, and as an eclectic, ‘Ragtime-to-Free’ solo pianist.
Anton Hunter is a guitarist, composer and improviser from the North West of England. He leads the 11-piece ensemble Article XI as well as his own trio. He appears in the quintet Sloth Racket, the trio Beck Hunters and a myriad of other different ensembles, ad hoc and otherwise. He is perhaps still better known for his work as guitarist in the award-winning Beats & Pieces Big Band, and as running the Noise Upstairs for it’s first 13 years.
